The Swansea Works 2011

These works were all produced for the final exhibition of the Swansea MA in Fine Art. They set the foundations for later works, particularly in the use of the the grain in the wooden boards (used here to represent a connection with the natural and biological), the bright palette of 'pure' colours and the simple forms. Influences also come through from work on geometry, perspective and compositional geometry, particularly with the works on canvas that again make reference to the 'facticity' (visible drawing and construction lines) of the piece.

Alongside the wall mounted works, there was a sound and light installation piece exploring colour and sound associations. See the projects section of this website.

Supporting these works was a dissertation exploring Goethe's colour work in relation to Newton's physical description of colour. This was then put into contemporary context with a discussion on phenomenology and neuroscience in relation to contemporary art.
