Soil Security Programme Conference 2019

In 2019, I contacted Jo Clarke at Reading University due to our shared interest in soil. This led to a discussion with Professor Chris Collins and Jessica Ponting from the Soil Security Programme about supporting their final event.

This involved;
- Production of one statement piece.
- The production of 40+ tubes of oil paint made from soil to be sent to selected delegates after the conference,
- Interactive workshops in petri dish etching and basic monoprinting using mud and charcoal pigments,
- An animated digital display of the results of the workshops to represent the vibrant and living nature of soil.
- A small exhibition of my Mud based works,
- Demonstrations on making paint and painting,
- Discussions about the aesthetic value of mud and the language connotations around earth, mud and soil.
